Experiences of socio-economic capacity building based on Human Rights for the eradication of poverty

The collection, « Experience of socio-economic capacity building based on human rights for the eradication of poverty » is made up of research documents selected based on a common issue: the reinforcement of the ability to act against poverty according to the human rights based approach.

This transversal theme which counts on the social and economic aptitudes of each individual as a means to escape poverty is carried by a strong message; poverty is a question of human rights. Based on that and looked at through this angle, reinforcing the capacities and the empowerment of the most vulnerable populations -one of the principals in the approach based on human rights as a means to eliminate poverty- constitutes an approach advocated by the diverse research-action projects.

The intellectual excellence and the innovating conceptual development which inform public policies and build the society of tomorrow are the key words for this collection, and are what make up its richness: the reinforcement of national capacities of research and analysis on the subject of public policies and, thus, the construction of policies with the reliability of a rigueur scientific, and of empirical pertinence.

  • The collection regroups recent research (between 2002-2007) making it an up to date source on multiple domains relative to the elimination of poverty.
  • The collection addresses the question through diverse angles, such as:
    • Creation and reinforcement of measures to guarantee equal access to social services and to justice
    • Analysis and reinforcement of judicial instruments and policies against vulnerability and impoverishment
    • Promotion of opportunities for persons or groups experiencing discrimination and violence
    • Promotion of technologies and traditional crafts and cultural heritage
    • Participatory local governance of natural heritage
    • Promotion of economic initiatives, creation of employment and improvement of working conditions
    • Using educative techniques, formal and informal, for the development of capacities.
